Teachers face many legal and ethical issues at work everyday. One of the main issues is copyright laws. In order for a teacher or student to use any information in any of their work they MUST properly site the material used. This could be done in several different ways. They can include text word for word with the original authors name and page number at the end. They can also reword someones work and site it with the name and page number. One thing that they must do is have a sources cited page to list every book, website, magazine, blog, etc. used in their work.
There are certain limitations for all types of media. For example when using text you can use ten percent of copyrighted work. Other forms are motion media, illustrations, music, and internet. When using a video or DVD the teacher cannot make copies to give to other teachers because it goes against the copyright laws. When using certain video clips or pictures the teacher or student cannot alter them in any way. Teachers and students must be very careful whenever using outside sources to help with any work they are doing.
